Following the revelation that Her Majesty had been placed “under medical supervision” at her Balmoral home in Scotland, the news was made public by Buckingham Palace a few hours later. The adored British queen had strong ties to the area and made frequent official travels to the Middle East. She also fostered relations with the governing families that started in the early years of her seven-decade reign.
