Patrick Mahomes vs. Aaron Rodgers is America’s Game of the Week, and it might have been between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers.

Instead, Mahomes will face Jordan Love, who is making his first career start for the Packers after Aaron Rodgers was ruled out due to a COVID-19 positive test. The Packers are coming off an exciting Thursday Night Football victory over the Arizona Cardinals, in which a game-winning interception eliminated the NFL’s last unbeaten team.

Since their Week 1 thrashing at the hands of the New Orleans Saints, the Packers have been on a tear. They’ve won seven straight games and haven’t allowed more than 22 points in a game since Week 3. That’s more than enough to win with Rodgers. With Love, it might have to be even better against a Chiefs offense that, despite its struggles, is capable of breaking out at any moment.

The Packers, on the other hand, have additional factors working in their favor. They have the second-best turnover differential in the league at +8, while the Chiefs have the worst differential in the NFL at -11, tied with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Even without Rodgers, if the defense can produce those opportunities, they will be able to stay in this game. If the game becomes a struggle for ball control, the Chiefs will win, especially in the boisterous atmosphere of Arrowhead Stadium.

Despite their problems, the Chiefs are 4-4 in the AFC West, just a half game behind the Chargers for second place. The Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers, and Baltimore Ravens have all defeated them. Against the Cleveland Browns, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Football Team, and New York Giants, they have won. After the Packers, they face the Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys before a bye week, so things aren’t getting any easier. While this isn’t a must-win game for the Chiefs, they do need to start demonstrating they can beat good teams if they want to compete in the AFC’s deepest division.

Here’s everything you need to know about watching the Packers take on the Chiefs on Sunday, including kickoff time, TV channels, and the whole Week 9 NFL schedule.
