HUAWEI OR XIAOMI: WHICH IS THE BEST?
In trying to compare Huawei and Xiaomi, we look beyond Apple from America and Samsung from Korea. We are looking at these these two Chinese technology giants, who are gaining ground quietly.
So it is only natural that those looking for an alternative to the iPhone or the Galaxy turn to these brands, and ask themselves the question: which is better?
Here are some answers, based on four points: the business model, the service, the material and the environment.
1. BUSINESS MODEL OF THESE TWO CHINESE GIANTS
While these two companies are targeting a similar audience by focusing on the low to mid-range, they take an entirely different approach.
Huawei is a manufacturer of Smartphones (and other connected devices) whose main goal is to sell its products. In this sense, the company is somewhat akin to Samsung. They rely on traditional marketing, carried by a few brand ambassadors and an advertising campaign both on television and in the press.
Xiaomi on the contrary seeks above all to sell its digital products and services, their Smartphone being just one of many: they create an environment similar to that of Apple, and their phones are a means of accessing it. Much more discreet in traditional media, however, they have an internet marketing strategy that has allowed them to experience a dramatic rise in ten years.
Here, it is difficult to separate the two.
2. SERVICES OFFERED BY HUAWEI AND XIAOMI
Huawei is a multinational with a presence in many countries, with local branches that manage deposits, deliveries and customer service. This gives them responsiveness and knowledge of the particularities of each country.
On the other hand, Xiaomi is much less present internationally, and relies above all on a network of distributors. The products are delivered from China, with the possible delivery problems that this may cause.
In the end, Huawei therefore offers much better customer service overall, although this can vary greatly locally.
3. SMARTPHONE AND HARDWARE
Huawei is a smartphone maker that relies on the quality of its products, and it shows: their phones are rugged, efficient and of excellent manufacture. And when it comes to the camera and the lens, they’re probably the best in the world …
For its part, Xiaomi does not focus primarily on devices, and the quality is felt: the finish is less successful, the components are not as reliable …
In terms of hardware, the balance is clearly tilted in favor of Huawei. If you are lucky enough to own a Huawei Mate 40 Pro, you already know that!
Regarding the available accessories, such as phone cases, there is no longer a big difference: it is as easy to find a case for a Huawei Mate 40 pro as Xiaomi Mi10.
4. ENVIRONMENT AND USE
Huawei’s concerns with Google are well known, and this undoubtedly complicates the user experience …
For their part, Xiaomi has been developing for years a complete environment for simple, intuitive and comprehensive use that ensures that those who are part of the Xiaomi universe have access to everything they may need.
On this point, therefore, there is no picture: Xiaomi is the big winner.
SO WHICH IS THE BEST ? HUAWEI OR XIAOMI
It is impossible to settle the “Huawei or Xiaomi” debate, the two companies being totally different. Those who prioritize the quality of their device will turn to Huawei instead, while those who seek a complete environment and ease of use will tend to prefer Xiaomi.
