Real Madrid now has nine points after the final whistle!
Thanks to two goals from Karim Bhema, both of which were set up by Vinicius, Real Madrid hang on for a 2-1 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk. Real Madrid already has nine points in the group, despite the fact that it wasn’t always pretty to watch.
Courtois comes up with a big save in minute 90 and one.
Courtois came across that shot from Heorhii Sudakov late in the game, but he gets down to business and makes a good stop. His luck runs out a little bit since no one else is in line for a rebound, but that was a hard one.

Minute 89: Kroos makes a mediocre attempt.
Toni Kroos has attempted numerous shots in the last few games, the majority of which have come from long distances. As he does again here, he is putting himself in risk while gathering information, which Anatolii Trubin eventually manages to do.

Minute 79: Benzema’s final act is almost too good to be true.
Karim Benzema gets substituted off, but not before firing a shot just over the crossbar from outside the box. If it had been the case, it would have been a hat-trick.
Minute 76: Not far from Stepanenko’s position.
Taras Stepanenko makes a long-distance attempt, and it isn’t that far away at all. Although he doesn’t get many goals, the man who wears the armband for Shakhtar Donetsk comes close to doing so.
Minute 74: Vinicius causes additional difficulties.
Vinicius has done an outstanding job in this one. He is causing issues for the Shakhtar Donetsk defense once more, but Marlon is there to put a stop to it. There’s a half-hearted call for handball, but nothing comes of it.
Shakhtar Donetsk had a half-chance in the 70th minute.
After falling behind for the second time, Shakhtar Donetsk create their first genuine chance of the game as Dodo plays a low cross in front of Courtois at breakneck speed. However, none of his colleagues take a chance, and the ball is sent flying out of the Real Madrid penalty area.
Real Madrid makes their first substitution in minute 66.
Nacho replaces Dani Carvajal as Real Madrid make their first replacement of the game. When compared to the minutes immediately following their first goal, the home side has a greater handle on the game following their second goal. Nacho can add more defensive solidity to the team, allowing Carvajal to have some time off as he works his way back to full fitness.
Minute 60: SCORING GOAL!!! BENZEMA IS SET UP BY VINICIUS YET AGAIN!!!
Vinicius provides the assist for Karim Benzema, same like he did for Real Madrid’s opening goal. This time, however, the Brazilian plays a one-two with Casemiro, and the No.9 finishes with assurance. As a result, the score is now 2-1. It will be interesting to see if Los Blancos can maintain their lead this time around.
Tete has the opportunity to score in minute 52.
The opening chance of the second half comes courtesy of Shakhtar Donetsk, with Tete launching a shot from the edge of the Real Madrid penalty area into the goal. Although his attempt is thwarted, it serves as a warning to Los Blancos.

Right as he did with the goal, Patrick sets up Fernando for a shot, and Courtois makes a spectacular stop to prevent the Ukrainians from grabbing the lead just before half-time.
Minute 43: Benzema sends a shot into the wall.
Real Madrid wins a freekick in a hazardous location, and Karim Benzema stands over it to take charge of the situation. However, the Frenchman sends the ball straight into the wall, and Shakhtar Donetsk are out of the woods for good.
The goal comes in the 39th minute!!! IT’S ALL EQUAL NOW!!!
This was inevitable, given how much Shakhtar Donetsk had improved in the previous few minutes. They have now equalised, with Fernando scoring following a Patrick knock-down, as the visitors take advantage of Real Madrid’s lacklustre performance since taking the lead.
Minute 31: Shakhtar Donetsk comes tantalizingly close to a victory.
A continuous period of possession allows Shakhtar Donetsk to create a shooting opportunity, which they take advantage of. Fernando is the one who fires the shot, which goes just wide of the mark.
Real Madrid allowed Mykhailo Mudryk to take a shot in the 23rd minute.
Mykhailo Mudryk finds some breathing room, and Real Madrid is on the verge of inviting him to shoot. Thibaut Courtois, on the other hand, finds it to be a comfortable position.
Minute 17: Modric comes within a whisker of tying the game.
Even if it wasn’t as fantastic as his first attempt, Luka Modric put Anatolii Trubin through his paces once more. This is yet another excellent save by the visiting goalkeeper to keep Shakhtar Donetsk in the game.
Minute 14: SCORING OBJECTIVE!!! BENZEMA THE OPENER GETS A GIFT FROM VINICIUS!
Real Madrid is the first to score! After winning the ball deep in the opposition half, Vinicius promptly sets up Karim Benzema for a straightforward finish. Real Madird has scored their 1,000th goal in the European Cup with this strike.
Minute 10: Shakhtar makes a diving header into the goal!
As a result, Shakhtar Donetsk now have a wonderful chance to win the match, as Patrick scores a goal from the edge of the box that hits the far post. Real Madrid must be on the lookout for these kinds of opportunities. That’s how they came up short against Sheriff.
